What does Colorful Chaos mean?

My New Year's resolution in Jan of 2016 was to do more writing and get my recipes in order. I enjoy cooking - it is a lot like play for me. I like to cook meals that are nutritious, economical, and easy.  When Im playing in the kitchen I try to take notes so that if something comes out well I have a recipe to follow next time.

However,  what I have is a wooden box full of index cards, folded bits of paper, and notes written on backs of envelopes. This has not been a great organizational tool. So, I decided to start a blog about cooking   - for me - to help myself stay organized. So that's where the Chaos comes from in the title.

The word Colorful in the title comes from the recommended  USDA food guidelines. It is recommend that you fill half your plate with colorful fruits and vegetables at every meal. Fruits and vegetables are packed with fiber, antioxidants, minerals and vitamins.

There seems to be a perception that eating healthy is expensive., but eating low on the food chain and incorporating grains, fruits and vegetables is healthy for your body and for your wallet!  Another thing that is helpful for the budget is to avoid going to the grocery store multiple times a week. I don't know about you, but it seems that every time I go to the grocery store for ONE thing I end up with TWELVE. Weekly meal planning can help eliminate multiple trips to the grocery store and incorporating left overs into future meals avoids waste and saves time and money.  Also my husband is known to ask "what's for dinner" starting at 10am . Having a plan makes this question less annoying - and sometimes unnecessary - I can say, "see the plan!" So I've posted a list of possible weekly meal plans to help my budget and sanity...

Not sure if anyone else will ever look at it besides myself,  and that is why my blogger name is imaginary friends, cuz that's also who I'm writing for haha. So there you have it. Here we go!
